datestamp, faint horizontal crease and slight thinning, Extremely Fine
appearance, a beautiful-appearing example of the rare 5c provisional
overprint, with 1997 P.F. certificate

Red Overprint Error (61B). Position 19 showing heavily inked impression
of the overprint, original gum, h.r., centered to top as are virtually all
known examplesA RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT RED OVERPRINT ERROR. ONLY ONE SHEET OF FIFTY WAS ISSUED.
Most of the original sheet of fifty was bought by dealer J. H. Makins in 1901, probably on behalf of Henry J. Crocker. The San Francisco earthquake is said to have destroyed eight of the fifty.

(76). Used with U.S. 10c Orange, Special Delivery (E3), Hawaiian
stamp tied by "Honolulu H.I. Dec. 8, 1894" duplex datestamp on cover to San
Francisco, despite effort to leave Special Delivery stamp uncancelled at
Honolulu, the corner tied by Honolulu duplex, both stamps also tied by "San
Francisco Cal. Dec. 15" postmark, violet H. Hackfield & Co. sender's
backstamp, receiving and timeclock backstamps, light file folds at left
clear of all stamps and markingsVERY FINE. AN INCREDIBLY RARE MIXED FRANKING OF HAWAIIAN POSTAGE AND THE U.S. SPECIAL DELIVERY STAMP, ESPECIALLY WITH BOTH STAMPS TIED BY THE HAWAIIAN POSTMARK.

"Honolulu Hawaii May 2, 1930" duplex cancels on oversize flown
covers addressed to Hawaii, each with red and purple cachets and each also
with Friedrichschafen backstamps, the 65c with pencil ms. "Via
Lakehurst, N.J. to Germany and return", some toning spotsVERY FINE AND CHOICE SET OF COVERS FROM THE ONLY KNOWN DISPATCH OF HAWAIIAN ZEPPELIN MAIL.
