32 C image5c Red Brown, 10c Black (1, 2). 5c vertical pair with top left corner sheet margins and full margins all around, used with 10c horizontal pair, three large margins but cut deeply into design at top, tied by vivid red grids, matching "Charleston S.C. Oct. 12" circular datestamp, ms. "30" rate on restored folded cover to New York City from the Ludlow Beebee correspondence, file fold thru 5c, most of paper surrounding address panel is restored but the stamps themselves are intact

THE ONLY RECORDED DOMESTIC COVER BEARING PAIRS OF THE 5-CENT AND 10-CENT 1847 ISSUE.

The large Ludlow Beebee correspondence furnished most of the known 1847 covers with 30c postage paid by three 10c stamps. This example, combining pairs of both first issues, is extremely unusual and, to our knowledge, the only 1847 cover franked in this manner. (Image)
