This cover was carried on the Cunarder Niagara, which departed Boston on Feb. 24, 1858, arriving in Liverpool on Mar. 9. The 5c stamp prepaid the shore-to-ship rate, and 1sh8p was collected from the addressee for the rate to Hong Kong by British Mail via Marseilles.
