The "Big Horn" collection, comprising approximately 400 carefully-chosen stampless covers across a wide range of states, lots of unusual rate markings and fancy town datestamps incl. Hartford Conn. negative monogram (the presence of a black datestamp and magenta datestamp with seal gives this the appearance of a postmaster's provisional), "St. Augustine Fl. T.", "Tallahassee Flo." oval, "Boston" straightline, "New-York" clamshell, "Detroit Mic. T." oval, "Newport Rhode Island" green oval, "Portsmouth N.H." green oval with War Rate, Wheeling Va. "Paid 3" with rays, "Morningville P.O. Westchester Co N.Y" boxed handstamp, Huntsville Ala. 5c coin, several Philadelphia "R" handstamps, a few Canadian and cross-border, some with corner cards, a few Independent Mails, the "ordinary" town datestamps are usually red or blue and very clearly struck, not too many manuscript postmarks, generally Very Fine, the product of years spent acquiring covers from postal history sales in the 1970's and 80's, almost all in the $20 to $75 price range, some cost $100+ years ago, worth careful examination and an aggressive bid E. 4,000-5,000 6,750.00
