Lot Sym. Lot Description Est/Cat Realized
103 c The "Big Horn" Collection of Railroad Covers. A massive offering of approximately 800 railroad covers, from early stampless to early 20th Century, virtually all acquired individually from postal history sales over many years, some duplication but probably more than 150 railroad lines are presented and many scarce to rare route agent markings are included, perusing the hundreds of covers we note the following: "Atlantic & Ct. L. R.R." on three cross-border covers, "Augusta & Atlanta R.R.", "Mad. River & Lak. Erie R.R.", gorgeous strike of "N.Y. & Erie R.Road", "Richmond & Danville R.R.", "Toledo, Norwalk & Cleveland R.R." on No. 11, "South West R.R." on 3c Nesbitt, "Aurora Exten. R.R." on 3c Nesbitt, "Pacific Railroad" on 3c Nesbitt, "HRR/Mail" two-line handstamp, "Harrisbg. & Lancr R.R.", "Little Miami R.R.", "Central R.R." on No. 26, "Rut. Salem & Troy Agt." with "OK" cancel tying No. 210, "North Carolina R.R." on No. 26, "Boston & Fall River R.R." on No. 11, "Vermt. & Massts. R.R." on No. 10, "Lou. & Fran. & Lex. & Fran. R.R. Midway" (three on No. 26 and one on 3c Nesbitt), and much more, condition somewhat mixed, as is to be expected in a comprehensive study collection of this kind, there are plenty of attractive covers with clear strikes and only minimal flaws

A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO ACQUIRE ONE OF THE LARGEST INTACT COLLECTIONS OF RAILROAD COVERS IN EXISTENCE. A LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN A FASCINATING FIELD OF STUDY.

We recommend careful viewing. Most covers are accompanied by the lot tabs from the original sales, including the famous Wyer and Hicks sales.
