including top left corner sheet margins, cancelled by bold jet-black
7-bar square grid (Gregory sqgrid20-7) and part of Lahaina circular

In our opinion, this stamp is superior to the four other sound Extremely Fine used copies we located in Caspary, Honolulu Advertiser and Pietsch sales, by virtue of its huge margins all around. Illustrated in Crocker book and presumably ex Crocker. (Image) |

THE 1863 ONE-CENT BLACK NUMERAL ON GRAYISH PAPER IS EXCEEDINGLY RARE IN USED CONDITION AND THIS PIECE MAY BE AS CLOSE TO A COVER AS EXISTS.
