1571 c imageThe Clippert Collection of Confederate Arkansas. Approximately 80 covers with Arkansas postal markings during the Confederate period, a few early usages with U.S. 3c 1857's incl. "Cearcy Ark. May 28" (1861) spelling error, , mostly stampless Paids and Dues but also an excellent selection of General Issues (Nos. 1, 4, 7, 11, 12), handstamped town datestamps incl. Arkadelphia, Camden, Eldorado, Fayetteville, Helena, Hillsboro, Lewisburg, Little Rock, Magnolia, Pine Bluff, Princeton, Van Buren, Washington, some very scarce manuscript towns incl. "3 Creeks" and "Rocky Comfort", some addressed to Arkansas from other places, adversity usages and soldiers' letters, a few Union usages incl. flag-of-truce with U.S. 3c 1861 tied by Fort Smith cds, some related documents and war bond, although the condition reflects typical wartime conditions, overall it is far better than average for Confederate Arkansas, most are exhibit-worthy and attractive, the average value per cover is $100-150, but many were purchased for more than $300 over the past 20 years (total cost $13,000 plus) -- the nucleus of a significant Confederate Arkansas collection, and a bonanza for the retail dealer, eBay or mail auction seller (Image) E. 7,500-10,000 23,000.00
