Boyce's City Express Post,
New York N.Y., 2c Black on Green Glazed (19L1). Two large margins, cut
in at top and right, just tied by pencil "X" on brown cover to post office
box, black "New-York 1 ct. Jan. 8" drop-letter rate datestamp, some
edgewear at bottom leftFINE. THE BOYCE'S CITY EXPRESS POST STAMP IS EXTREMELY RARE, WITH PERHAPS EIGHT TO TEN KNOWN ON COVERS AND ANOTHER FOUR OR FIVE OFF COVER. Very little is known about Boyce's City Express Post. Nothing in the city directories ties any particular Boyce to the post, nor are there advertisements or source material to identify the proprietor. Covers are dated in late 1852 and April 1855.
