Blood & Co., Red on Buff entire (15LU6A) to the Eastern Penitentiary in Philadelphia, each stamp cancelled by red star, 1c 1851 (small margins to slightly in) has been lifted and moved from its original position over red embossed stamp where traces of gum and toning effectively "tie" the stamp to the cover (same for LO2), vertical fold, minor edgewear, a Fine and remarkable cover, the usage is open to interpretation, possibly dropped in a Blood's box but deemed undeliverable and stamped by them with the carrier and drop postage, or perhaps the sender applied the stamps after determining that Blood's would not be able to deliver the letter to the penitentiary, ex Waterhouse and Middendorf (Image) E. 1,000-1,500 850.00
