May 13th 1873 6/5 P.M. I certify the above to be correct W.J. Turpin Supt. City P.O. D.C." VERY FINE. THIS IS THE "FIRST" FIRST DAY OF THIS POSTAL CARD USED FROM WASHINGTON D.C. A GREAT RARITY. A total of eight cards are known to exist cancelled on May 13, in Boston, New York and Washington D.C. One is known cancelled on May 12 in Springfield Mass. Mar. 26" and quartered cork cancels to Cleveland O., 1886 date on back, writer is oblivious to the double impression and asks for information on stone from the stone company, trivial corner bends VERY FINE. A RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1885 ONE-CENT BROWN ON BUFF POSTAL CARD WITH DOUBLE IMPRESSION. Listed but unpriced in Scott.
