The double grill is listed but not priced in unused condition. The Scott Retail value for a used stamp with double grill is $1,200 compared with $650 for a used stamp with one grill (185%). Using this ratio, the unused stamp with double grill should be approximately $9,250. When the superb condition is factored into the equation, the current market value becomes much higher.

The points-up variety is caused when the sheet of stamps is fed into the grilling machine upside down. It can also be caused by a foldover somewhere in the sheet, but that is likely not the case here due to the grill's orientation.

of stamp, deep rich colorVERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN EXTREMELY RARE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 90-CENT GRILLED NATIONAL BANK NOTE ISSUE. THE 90-CENT IS THE THIRD MOST DIFFICULT STAMP OF THE NATIONAL BANK NOTE GRILLED ISSUE TO OBTAIN IN SOUND ORIGINAL-GUM CONDITION.
Considering original-gum examples only, after the extremely rare 12c and non-existent 24c, the 90c is the rarest of the 1870 National Grilled Issue.
