We have only sold one other plate block, in our Sale 819, as well as a complete pane of 100 in our 1995 Rarities sale, since keeping computerized records. Given its scarcity we are surprised at its modest catalogue value. (Image)

Essay on India (129-E1 var). 34 x 30mm, deep rich colorVERY FINE AND CHOICE ESSAY OF THE 15-CENT TYPE III 1869 PICTORIAL ISSUE. UNLISTED IN SCOTT.
This is similar to the essay, Scott 129-E1, except it lacks the large "15" overprint. This particular color, in a darker Blue shade, is unlisted as the regular essay. It is possible that this was prepared but never overprinted. The Scott-listed variety with overprint catalogues $3,250.00. (Image)

Pink color which is especially noticeable when viewed from the back, rich

For the frame only essays of Scott 129, the Scott Catalogue only lists the design on India paper. This perforated vignette-only essay on pink paper may be unique. (Image)
