Horizontal pair, large even margins all around, cancelled by red grids, matching "New York 3 May 24" credit datestamp on blue 1856 folded letter to London, England, and forwarded to Paris, France, red London datestamp, "16" decimes due marking for forwarding postage, endorsed Pr. "Atlantic" for Liverpool May 24th, written from J. Deming Perkins to his father, Charles, who was travelling through England and France, contains advice on banking and forwarding agents, sightseeing etc., fresh and Very Fine, this nicely contrasts with the following lot, where forwarding postage was paid by the G.B. stamp, ex Krug (Image) E. 1,000-1,500 1,350.00

EXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING 12-CENT 1851 BISECT COVER WITH THE RARE SONORA 1852 YEAR-DATED STRAIGHTLINE POSTMARK. ONE OF ONLY FIVE RECORDED COVERS -- ALL FROM THE JARVIS CORRESPONDENCE -- WITH THE 12-CENT 1851 BISECT AND SONORA STRAIGHTLINE.
