address and message in green from the Franklin Bank of St. Louis,
acknowledging receipt of $100, very light wrinkles and tiny scrape in
cardEXTREMELY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING PRE-FIRST DAY USAGE OF THE ONE-CENT LOUISIANA PURCHASE ISSUE. THIS IS THE ONLY PRE-FIRST DAY USAGE TO A FOREIGN DESTINATION. The Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis opened on Saturday, April 30, 1904, and continued until December 1, 1904. This cover was mailed on the day before the exhibition opened, and it is the only known pre-First Day usage to a foreign destination.
