Nine covers, including Longbeach CA, Hudson MA, Chicago IL, Dayton OH, Kendallville IN (with AFDCS certificate), Hilbert WI, Piedmont MO, all on standard-size or slightly smaller covers, we also note an oversize piece used with 10c Special Delivery stamp to pay that rate with Marion AL with duplex cancel, also related multicolored postcard from Boston MA. 747 c 1922-25 Flat Plate Collection (551-570). Over 100 covers mounted in two albums, the following breakdown by Scott number: 551 with both DC and New Haven x 17 with 4 related postcards, combination with 576 unofficial NY, plate block of 9, 552 with both Philadelphia and DC x 15 with unofficial Richmond VA., block of four with Planty #12, Frost cover, 553 x 6 with plate block of 8, 2 with U481 and 2 with 582-598-U481 (cut down), 554 x 3, 555 x 10 with Hux add-on, unofficial Alexandria VA and Hodgenville KY., 556 x 5, 557 x 4 two DC & 2 NY, 558 x 4, 559 x 7 with 2 Niles OH, 560 x 3, 561 x 3, 562 x 2 one with block, 564 x 5 with DC x 3 and Boston & Caldwell (cut down), 565 x 3, 566 x 4 (one cut down), 568-570 three pristine covers serviced by Worden on his standard-size covers. 748 c 1925-26 Rotary & Coil Issue Collection (576-606). 59 mounted on pages as follows: 576 x 3, 582 x 1, 584 x 4, 585 x 3, 586 x 3, 587 x 2, 588 x 2, 588-90 (1) catalogue $300.00, 589 x 6, 590 x 3, 591 x 1, 597 Hammelman serviced (catalogue $750.00-pristine), 598 x 2, 600 x 6, 602 x 4, 603 5, 604 x 3 (one with line pair), 605 x 6 and 606 x 2, well worth a thorough review and estimated at a fraction of approximate catalogue value of $5,000.00 E. 1,500-2,000 1,250.00
749 c 2c Harding (610-611). 30 covers mounted in one album, Scott No. 610 includes 17 covers with a rare Hungerford serviced add-on printed cachet (Planty #11), scarce of the period printed cachet of 1st Mack cachet (a $500.00 value on its own), Langley C/C addressed to Linn, unofficial from Caledonia OH, and other covers serviced by Worden, Hammelman, Nickles, Ward, etc. No. 611 includes some eight covers with Colman x 2 one with a block, mourning cover with block and a Nickles serviced block, 612 is represented by five covers including a block and single serviced by Citret and another single by Colman E. 1,000-1,500 575.00
750 c 1c-5c Huguenot-Walloon and Lexington-Concord (614-619). 88 covers mounted in one album, represented by 51 Walloons including 21 covers with complete sets (all cities are represented). Other highlights include many variously franked singles with a set of two covers with matching rare unofficial cancels from Alexandria, VA. (both covers make up the set), we also note an unofficial for No. 619 from Bethlehem PA (quite scarce), a plate block of 10 (some faults) for No. 615, a plate block of 10 (not First Day) but for the Zepp Round the World Flight. The Lexington-Concords make up the remainder including 13 complete sets on one cover with two unofficial covers from NY (one with cert. ), a scarce 617-619 and 551 (same day release) sent registered with seldom-seen original registry receipt (some faults but a great exhibit item), related labels (one tied), large multiples are also included with 9 x 617 and 6 x 618. A rare chance to not only fill in nearly all official cities for both issues but also acquire many hard to find items as well. E. 2,000-3,000 2,200.00
751 c 1c-5c Lexington-Concord (617-619 ) First Day Cover Exhibit (ex Siskin). We stress quality here and not quantity when describing this lot, the finest collection of its kind we have seen. Originally shown at Pittpex in 1978 and ever since held by Dr. Martin and now offered here untouched for over 25 years. Highlights abound in this two-volume collection of over 120 covers many of which are still in their original mounted exhibit pages. Better pieces begin with a very impressive selection of 27 covers with unofficial cancels including 617 x 4, 618 x 11, 619 x 1 & 617-619 (1) x 11, 1st Jackson cachets include three of each value (2 on 2c) with all 5c with foreign destinations with one to China and the others to France. There were 5 additional stamps issued the same day as the Lexington-Concord issues and we note eight in all including, 617 + 551, 617 plate block of six + 551, 618 + 586, 618 + 576, 618-619 + 551, 617-619 + 551, 617-619 (all plate numbers) + 551 + 576, all 8 issues on two covers with 585-587 being one of them. Other significant covers of note include the only known complete set with a PREDATE of 4/3/25 from Boston, 617-19 (1) to Newfoundland, original P.O. Dept. announcement, several semi-officials, 617 & 618 bisects (quite rare) on separate covers. One of the premier specialized collections from the Martin Estate, simply awesome E. 7,500-10,000 8,000.00
752 c 2c-5c Norse American (620-621). 54 covers mounted in one album, including 26 combination covers with highlights including six unofficials, 1st Weschcke x 3, Nickles blocks of four, rare C. W. George add-on etc. Singles cover make up the remainder of the collection with a beautiful set of two Worden serviced orange envelopes with blocks of four, two sets of H. Herst add-ons, a set of arrow blocks, two different unofficials and two Wirt add-on sets. We also note margin and sideRographer markings E. 1,000-2,000 950.00
