Planty #174 and 174B, Owen hand-painted "of the period" cachets including the complete set of thirteen coils (839-851) and three booklet panes, each cachet is different and generally has hand painting as well as hand lettering, a fantastic set with great consideration to detail, magnificent multicolor artwork seldom seen in this period, one of the scarcest and most interesting cachet maker for this series, this is the only complete set known to us (Image) E. 1,200-1,500 675.00
591 c image-1/2c-$5.00 Presidential (803-834). Unlisted, Grimsland engraved cachet in Blue with added hand-drawn circular border cut out and pasted on oversized cover with all 32 values of the 1938 Presidential, added hand-drawn text "Presidential Series - Ordinary Postage Issue of 1938" at bottom, tied by December 8, 1938 First Day cancel for the 30c and 50c values (which were the last stamps of the series to be issued), this is the only example we have seen, we sold this same cover in McCusker Sale #110 in April 1998 for over $800 (Image) E. 900-1,200 1,400.00
592 c image-1/2c-$5.00 Presidential (803-834). Planty #15, outstanding complete set of William Raley cachets, also incl. Booklets and Coils, for Nos. 803-834 all covers have plate number singles and matched typed addresses, a beautiful set in superb condition, rare, this is the only complete set we have seen which includes the booklets and coils (Image) E. 900-1,200 1,250.00
593 c image-1/2c-50c Presidential Electric Eye (803EE-805EE, 808EE-831EE). Planty #38, rare set of 29 Crosby thermographed cachets, (Nos. 807EE and 808EE are not known serviced by Collector's Surplus), all on #10 covers with double cachets and each with block of four, others included are two different E15EE, 803EE and 804EE combination covers, a rare set and a must for the 1938 Presidential specialist (Image) E. 1,200-1,500 1,500.00
594 c image$1.00, $2.00 and $5.00 Presidential (832-834). On three Planty #26, Louis Nix multicolor cachets, crisp and clean, scarce group, offered here for the first time by us, certainly less than five of the $5.00 value are known (Image) E. 750-1,000 425.00
595 c image$2 Harding (833). Unlisted hand-drawn pen and ink "of the period" cachet in black on monarch-size envelope, addressed to John Fitzgerald with "By Fitzgerald" as part of cachet, unique (Image) E. 350-500 0.00
596 c image1c-10c Presidential, Horizontal and Vertical Coils (839-851). Thirteen individual covers, franked with rare coil "snipes", each cover is franked with two singles for each Scott number with "snipes" attached to both possible sides of each coil, all but six also with tied original label or the outside of the unexploded coil packaging, all addressed to Frank Garrett, Jr. of Newark N. J. and probably serviced by him, a fantastic and unique set, an incredible exhibit item and a must for the 1938 Presidential specialist (Image) E. 1,200-1,500 1,500.00
