Stamp Company of Boston Mass.EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL AND RARE FIRST DAY COVER OF THE $1.00 LINCOLN MEMORIAL FLAT PLATE PRINTING. THIS IS THE FIRST WE HAVE SEEN SERVICED BY THIS COMPANY FOR ANY HIGH-VALUE FLAT PLATE. Most $1.00 1922 First Days were serviced by Worden and were considered to be the "more common" covers by Dr. Martin. He preferred the non-Worden covers, reflecting Dr. Martin's ability to focus on scarcity even among items that are scarce in any form. A similar cover serviced by Worden realized $7,250 hammer in McCusker sale #203 (2/2005). Brookman catalogue value $7,500.00 (Image) |
