EXTREMELY FINE EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE 11-CENT HAYES FIRST DAY COVER FROM FREMONT, OHIO.

The 11c Hayes First Day usage from Fremont is the first time the Post Office began issuing stamps from a location related to the subject.

VERY FINE. ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT FIRST DAY COVERS FROM THIS CITY WE HAVE EVER OFFERED. FREMONT WAS THE FIRST TIME THE POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT BEGAN ITS POLICY OF ISSUING NEW STAMPS AT A LOCATION RELATED TO THE SUBJECT OF THE STAMP. A VERY SPECIAL COVER AND A GREAT EXHIBIT ITEM.

Fremont is President Rutherford B. Hayes birthplace, and is also his final resting place.
