VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE FIRST DAY USAGE OF THE ONE-CENT JAMESTOWN ISSUE. THERE ARE ONLY TEN DOCUMENTED FIRST DAYS FOR THIS ISSUE.

There are fewer than fifteen First Days known for all three values of the Jamestown Issue. This is only the third First Day we have offered either publicly or privately in over 25 years.

Acquired by Dr. Martin in the McCusker FDC Rarity sale (Dr. Melvin Baron collection) in 1996 for $7,425 against an estimate of $6,000. Brookman catalogue value $12,000.00 (Image)
