Vertical strip of three with bottom sheet margin, each stamp mathematically centered with wide margins, beautiful deep rich color, tied by grids and red "New York Paid 6 Nov. 30" (1861) credit datestamp on cover to Havre, France, red Calasis transit and "PD" in frame, transit and receiving backstamps, neatly docketed at right, top and bottom stamps have minor sealed tears, the cover is lightly cleaned (accompanying certificate notes small tear in bottom stamp only)

EXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A BREATHTAKING COVER WITH ONE OF THE FINEST-CENTERED MULTIPLES OF THE 1861 5-CENT BUFF KNOWN ON OR OFF COVER. IN THE WORDS OF ASHBROOK "A VERY BEAUTIFUL AND HIGHLY DESIRABLE COVER."

Horizontal strip of four and two adjoining singles (separated from the same multiple), beautiful deep early shade, couple nibbed perfs, tied by grid cancels, "San Francisco Cal. Dec. 11, 1861" double-circle datestamp on blue folded letter to Podensac, France, sender's blue oval handstamp, red "New York Paid 24 Jan. 11" credit datestamp, red Calais transit (Jan. 24) and "PD" in frame, Paris and Podensac receiving backstamps

VERY FINE. A SPECTACULAR 10-CENT 1861 ISSUE MULTIPLE FRANKING FOR THE QUADRUPLE TREATY RATE TO FRANCE.

This was probably carried on the Inman Line's Kangaroo, departing New York on January 12, 1861, arriving at Queenstown on January 24 (and entering French mails at Calais on the same day).
