VERY FINE AND CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 1857 ONE-CENT PERFORATED TYPE Ia STAMP.

Due to narrow spacing on the plate, most examples of this stamp have part of the type characteristics cut away by the perforations. The stamp offered here is one of the few known used examples with choice centering and a light cancel. It is an obvious early impression from Plate 4.
