In our opinion, the catalogue value for this stamp is not commensurate with its rarity. There was only one printing of the 6c of this series, and only 9,705 stamps were issued.

The high-denomination 1894 Unwatermarked Bureau issues are extremely rare and often plagued with poor centering and faults. If a "condition census" for PR96 were compiled we believe this stamp would rank among the finest extant.

corner crease at top left, small thins at top and rightESSENTIALLY VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THE $6.00 1894 UNWATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE IS THE RAREST OF THE REGULARLY-ISSUED NEWSPAPER STAMPS. ONLY FIFTEEN UNUSED EXAMPLES HAVE BEEN CERTIFIED AS GENUINE BY THE PHILATELIC FOUNDATION, MOST OF WHICH HAVE VARYING DEGREES OF FAULTS.
