Green, Ty. II (26, 32). Two of each, tied by "N. York Steamship"
dateless circular handstamp on red and blue Waving Flag Patriotic
cover to Columbus O., ms. "Recd. 5 July" at left, some overall wear,
expertly repaired along edges, Fine appearance, an extremely rare franking
and usage, exact origin is unknown, but probably from a vessel sailing from
the Caribbean or coast of South America

Liberty, Flag and Shield Patriotic cover to Columbus O. and
forwarded to Granville O., neat "Columbus O. Aug. 17, 1861"
double-circle datestamp and ms. "Ford. 6", trivial wearVERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE USE OF 12-CENT 1857 ON AN INBOUND STEAM-LETTER PATRIOTIC COVER
The origin of this cover is unknown, but it was probably carried on a ship sailing from the Carribean or coast of South America. The 24c prepayment overpays the double 10c rate. (Image)

handstamp, sender's instructions at left, barely reduced at right and some
edgewear, Very Fine appearance, rare double-rate franking, ex Ayre, with

and "Steamship 10" in circle handstamps, "Barbadoes MR 13, 1861" backstamp
on cover to Philadelphia, endorsed "Via Southampton", sender
intended to pay 1sh British Mail rate via Southampton but underpaid it with
the 6p, so the cover was sent by U.S. steamer to New York from St. Thomas
(transit backstamp), Very Fine, rare usage, with 1963 B.P.A. certificate (Image)

Rich color, tied by "New Orleans La. Apr. 5" circular datestamp on 1861
folded letter from Confederate New Orleans to Havana, Cuba, light
strike of oval "NA1" due marking, receiving backstamp, light file folds and

scarce double-rate usage of the 10c First Design to Cuba, with 1983 P.F.
