URUGUAY. 1856-1953, outstanding collection in a Scott Specialty
album, begins with the Diligencia carrier issues unused with 60c Blue and
deep blue, 80c Green and deep green and two examples of the 1r Vermilion
and the 1857 60c Blue (No. 3B), and some reference material, there is an
uncancelled No. 1 on cover with 1980 Diaz certificate which states "that
the letter and the stamp are genuine", 1858 with unused singles plus shades
and two used 120c values, 1859-60 First Government issues with 55 unused
and used stamps, two unused blocks of four and three covers or fronts, 1864
Arms with mint and used singles and multiples and covers of Nos. 18 (2),
21, 22a, and 23, 1866 Surcharges with blocks and covers of Nos. 26 and 27,
1866 Numerals with some multiples and varieties, essentially singles from
there on with occasional varieties and some miniature sheets, air post with
a nice selection of No. C1-C3 stamps and covers plus a light yellow green
overprint (San. No. 3a, only 200 issued), C4-C13 covers, solid later issues
and a few covers, rest of the back-of-the-book apparently complete as well,
also includes three stampless covers including 1840 to London with red
"MONTEVo" straightline, an enormously interesting and valuable collection
in generally Fine-Very Fine condition |
