PARAGUAY. Collection in a Scott Specialty album, start with three
stampless covers (two 1812 with red "PARAGUAY" straightlines), 1878
Surcharges with unused blocks of the 5c on 1r black and blue surcharges,
apparently complete thereafter to 1953 for regulars, commemoratives, air
post and other back-of-the-book with loads of shades, perf. varieties,
inverted and double surcharges, imperfs., etc., many are non-Scott listed,
a great lot for the advanced collector of this country with material that
is almost entirely Fine-Very Fine |

PERU. Collection in a Scott Specialty album, a classic collector's
wonderland as a great part of the value is in the early material, begins
with 25 1820's to 1850's stampless covers and a Great Britain 6p on 1857
cover from Islai to New York tied by British P.O. "C42" grid, Peruvian
stamps from 1857-1952 follow with an original gum No. 1 and several
reprints, unused Nos. 3 and 4, used No. 6 (2), plus a small specialized
group of No. 3 with eight singles, a strip of four and three covers, then
24 pages crammed with 1858-1872 Imperforates with covers and a great array
of nearly all used for cancellations, multiples and varieties featuring a
No. 11 used block of four (Holcombe certificate), No. 13 unused strip of
six (R.P.S. certificate), a No. 14 with 2/4p postage (the two 1sh stamps
damaged) on 1869 cover to Italy, No. 12 on cover to Italy and a No. 12c
Bisect cover, 1866-67 fancy cancellations, a 1d Green with embossed arms
inverted (No. 14a, slight thin), No. 17 block of four on registered cover,
and some plate proofs, then mostly specialized to 1897, more varieties for
1912-29 otherwise singles of each, air post with a strip of six of No. C1
on 1930 cover to Austria, unused No. C1 inverted overprint (San. 1a), No.
C3 plus others of the Piura arms, two sets on a round trip flight cover
(trimmed at left), special delivery, postage dues including the rare No.
J35 (regummed), officials, rather extensive and noteworthy Chilean
occupation starting with Chile used in Peru, generally Fine-Very Fine,
viewing is essential to get the real flavor of this important collection |
