VERY FINE AND UNIQUE UNADOPTED STEVENSON ESSAYS FOR THE 1922 SERIES.

According to United States Stamps 1922-26 by Gary Griffith, the Stevenson designs were submitted by John Stevenson, an engraver who had been with the Bureau for only a short time. They were sent for consideration at the same time as fifteen models prepared by the Bureau's designer, Clair Aubrey Huston. Also accompanied by 1994 U.S. Specialist article by Griffith, stating that he had new information proving that these essays, which had been known for years, were definitely submitted to the Post Office for consideration for the fourth Bureau issue.
