adhering to interleaving, deep rich colorFRESH AND FINE. AN INCREDIBLY RARE PAIR FROM THE ONE-CENTISIMO BOOKLET CONTAINING ONE STAMP WITH A DISTINCT DOUBLE OVERPRINT. ONLY TWO PANES WERE PRINTED.
According to Canal Zone Stamps, only two panes were printed with the double error. Of these, one pane is reported to be intact. The other pane was broken, but the whereabouts of the other pairs are unknown. The pair offered here is therefore the only one recorded.

"Zone" Only (55d). CZSG 55d, in horizontal pair with normal, left stamp
the variety, narrow selvage at left with printed "Canal", original gum,
h.r., deep rich colors, two vertical creases (which caused the
error)VERY FINE AND CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THE "ZONE" ONLY ERROR. ONLY FIVE OR SO ARE KNOWN, ONE OF WHICH IS USED.
This error was created by a foldover in the left vertical row of one pane, which caused "Canal" to print in the sheet margin. The following examples are known: 1) the example offered here, 2) similar example offered in our Drucker sale 856, lot 591, 3) unused in horizontal pair with normal, part of "Canal" visible at left, ex Plass lot 581, 4) single contained in a large unused block, and 5) left stamp in horizontal strip of five used on cover, ex Plass lot 582. 1924, 12c Brown Violet, "Zone"
Inverted (76a). CZSG 76a, Position 30, tropicalized original gum,
almost perfectly centered with wide margins all around, natural s.e. at
right, rich colorEXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS THE FINEST RECORDED UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT WITH "ZONE" INVERTED.
According to Canal Zone Stamps, this error was not noticed until June 1926, almost two years after it was issued. Only three unused and seven used copies are known.

Only, "Zone Canal" (84a, 84b). CZSG 84a, 84b, block of four with
plate no. at top, top stamps "Canal" only, bottom stamps "Zone
Canal", radiant color, choice centeringVERY FINE AND CHOICE. ONLY 20 COPIES OF THE "CANAL" ONLY WERE PRINTED. ONE OF TWO POSSIBLE MULTIPLES WITH THE PLATE NUMBER. A WONDERFUL POSITION BLOCK.

1926, 2c Carmine, Horizontal
Pair, One Without Ovpt. (84c). CZSG 84c, 84.2c, 84.2a, top right stamp
in top right corner selvage block of six missing the overprint, center
stamp at right with "Z" only of the overprint, bottom right stamp missing
"Nal" of "Canal" and part of "e" of "Zone", slightly tropicalized original
gum, h.r., diagonal crease (which caused the error), bottom right stamp
defective, few tears in selvageFINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS THE UNIQUE EXAMPLE OF THE 1926 2-CENT CARMINE WITH MISSING OVERPRINT.
The error was cause by a foldover at the corner of the sheet prior to printing. Ex Mast. Illustrated in Canal Zone Stamps on p. 145. Scott Retail as the error in pair with normal and with no premium for the partly printed overprints. (Image)
1926, 5c Dark Blue, Vertical
Pair, One Without Ovpt., Other with Ovpt. Inverted (86g). CZSG 86g, top
stamp missing overprint, natural s.e. at top, lightly hinged, deep rich
colorVERY FINE EXAMPLE OF THIS DRAMATIC ERROR. ONLY TEN PAIRS ARE POSSIBLE.
According to Canal Zone Stamps, these errors were created because the press was set up as a 100-subject overprint form to accommodate narrow selvage at bottom. When one pane was mistakenly inserted in the wrong direction the top row missed receiving the overprint, which was printed instead on the wide selvage at bottom. (Image)
1925, 10c Orange, "Zone Zone"
(87a). CZSG 87, 87a, Position 18 in right selvage block of twelve,
slightly tropicalized original gum, h.r., radiant color, tiny faults at top
rightVERY FINE APPEARANCE. ONLY FIVE COPIES OF THE "ZONE ZONE" ERROR ARE RECORDED FOR THE 10-CENT VALUE.
According to Canal Zone Stamps, the error only occurs on Position 18 of the bottom right pane. All were officially destroyed, except for five copies. Two of the five are contained in complete panes.

centeringVERY FINE AND CHOICE. THE FINEST OF THE FOUR KNOWN EXAMPLES OF THIS VARIETY.
According to Canal Zone Stamps, this error comes only from Position 18 on the lower right pane of the plate. Four panes were sold before the remaining 246 lower right panes on hand were officially destroyed, on Oct. 15, 1926. One pane is still intact (ex Tows and Grebian).

Ovpt. (90a). CZSG 90a, Position 18 in block of 28 with plate no. at
right and natural s.e. at top, barely tropicalized original gum, rich
colorFRESH AND FINE. ONLY THREE EXAMPLES OF THE 15-CENT "ZONE ZONE" OVERPRINT ARE RECORDED. A GREAT RARITY.
According to Canal Zone Stamps, official records indicate that all 250 panes from the lower right portion of the sheet were destroyed. However, three are known, including one in a full pane (ex Tows), which has not been seen for some time. It is possible that these were part of a shipment sent on a later date with second printing stamps.
