EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A BEAUTIFUL PAIR OF THE UNWATERMARKED 2-CENT ROTARY TYPE II PERF 10 COIL.

Unlike most other issues, the horizontal coil is actually scarcer than the vertical coil. It was in production for only a short period of time before being replaced by the Type III, Scott 492.

VERY FINE. THE UNIQUE MULTIPLE OF THE ONE-CENT GREEN 1917 ISSUE PERFORATED 10 AT BOTTOM, SHOWING TRANSITIONAL PERFORATIONS AND WITH PLATE NUMBER AT TOP. ONE OF THE MAJOR 20TH CENTURY PERFORATION RARITIES.

Our records of Scott 498g contain seven unused and four used examples of this rarity. The unused examples are as follows: 1) choice centering, original gum, Perf 10 at top, 2) centered slightly to top, original gum, Perf 10 at top, 3) original gum, centered to bottom left, Perf 10 at top, 4) Mint N.H., centered to bottom left, offered in our 2001 Rarities sale (where it realized $6,250 hammer), 4) and 5) block of four, original gum, Perf 10 at top, choice centering, 6) and 7) the block offered here.

EXTREMELY FINE PLATE BLOCK OF THE SCARCE 2-CENT TYPE IA WITH FULL TOP SELVAGE.

Full top plate blocks of Scott 500 from the experimental Type Ia plate are rare and almost invariably off center. This is one of the finest we have ever encountered.

VERY FINE. A RARE MULTIPLE ON COVER OF THE PERF 11 5-CENT ERROR. PROBABLY FEWER THAN FIVE PAIRS OF THIS 5-CENT ERROR EXIST ON COVER.

The 1984 census by Larry Weiss of Scott 467 and 505 on cover records only three covers bearing pairs of the 5c error, Scott 505. The cover offered here is not listed in his census. (Image)
