pair, beautifully centered and bright color, minor faults, tied by
quartered cork and "San Francisco Cal. Jan. 16" (1870) circular datestamp,
used with pair of Hawaii 1866 5c Blue (32), small fault at bottom,
tied by negative "HI" in oval and quartered cork cancels, "Honolulu
Hawaiian-Islands Jan. 4" circular datestamp on cover to Reading Mich.,
soiled and minor edge faults, reduced at leftFINE. AN ENORMOUSLY RARE AND ATTRACTIVE HAWAIIAN AND UNITED STATES PICTORIAL ISSUE MIXED-FRANKING COVER. ONE OF SEVEN RECORDED FROM HAWAII WITH THE 10-CENT STAMP. The cover was sent via Hawaiian Steam Service, and the franking paid the double 5c Hawaiian and double 10c U.S. rates.
