Adhesive affixed to top right of cover, blue "Brimfield Ms. Sep. 2" with day in ms., adhesive tied by similar penstrokes in identical ink on 1847 folded letter to Chelsea Mass., matching blue "Paid" handstamp, some edgewear, Fine, the status of this cover has been the subject of much debate among students as to whether this is in fact a postmaster's provisional, accompanied by documentation incl. letter by Eliott Perry stating that "There is at least a 50% chance that the adhesive is authentic" but that since it was used after release of the 1847 Issue it does not deserve listing, accompanied by two stampless covers from the same correspondence (Image) E. 500-750 800.00
