Apr. 6" circular datestamp, on cover to South Onindaga N.Y. with handrawn multicolored Anti-Draft design of man in top hat "Going to Canada" with "You don't draft me" at bottom, with original letter datelined "Camp near Tenallytown April 4th 1863" with great content "...the guns came today for the fort we are to garrison and with them orders to drill every day eight hours...You still think there is no way for me to get out of the army unless I desert...You can enlist in almost any city in the Loyal States or in any Regiment or Company...drafted men are sent to the front, they do not stay in Washington over night. VERY FINE. A RARE AND COLORFUL COVER FROM CALIFORNIA TO SWITZERLAND, BEARING 5-CENT AND 30-CENT 1861 ISSUES IN SHADES FROM THE EARLIEST PRINTING.

The Prussian Closed Mail rate to Switzerland was 35c from October 1852 to May 1863. Until July 1, 1863, an additional 5c was required on mail from the West Coast. The 38c postage on this November 1861 cover appears to have been accepted as full prepayment.
