EXTREMELY FINE COMPLETE MINT NEVER HINGED PANE OF THE 2-CENT JACKSON CONFEDERATE ISSUE.

Dietz notes there are several minor shifts and varieties on the plate, and also states "Full sheets of two panes are relatively scarce." Scott Retail as gutter pairs, blocks of four and pairs (without Mint N.H. premium).

Feb. 24" (1862) circular datestamp on orange cover to Athens Ga., backflap removed, stamp has two small tears at right and light edge toning

VERY FINE. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT BATON ROUGE ROULETTE ON COVER.

This cover dates from the first Confederate occupation period, prior to evacuation on May 7, 1862, and re-occupation by Confederates on August 21, 1862.

Jun. 22" cds, solder's endorsement, torn across front of cover, a U.S. 3c 1861 has been substituted for the original that fell off (pictured this way in Antrim, p. 53), otherwise Fine, a respectable example of this very rare usage (Image) E. 500-750 525.00

Block of 40, top five rows are Positions 1-5/41-45, sequence repeated for bottom three rows, recognized plate varieties are Pos. 1 smeared "E" of "Postage", Pos. 5 scarred "E" of "Postage", Pos. 13 closed curl lower right, Pos. 21 spur upper left and Pos. 25 goose neck, deep rich color, large margins, original gum, usual brown gum toning and slight creasing caused by gum -- considered to be normal condition for large General Issue blocks and not even noted on accompanying certificate

A VERY FINE AND IMPRESSIVE MULTIPLE. ONE OF THE LARGEST KNOWN BLOCKS OF THE 5-CENT BLUE LITHOGRAPH.
