2073 image1c Blue, Ty. Ia (19). Position 93R4, choice centering with entire bottom right plume clearly visible, well-struck town datestamp, rich color on bright paper

EXTREMELY FINE. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 1857 ONE-CENT PERFORATED TYPE Ia STAMP.

Due to narrow spacing on the plate, most examples of this stamp have part of the type characteristics cut away by the perforations. The stamp offered here, with completely visible plume at lower right (the primary characteristic of the type) should be considered highly desirable.

With 2002 P.F. certificate (Image)

2074 image1c Blue, Ty. Ia (19). Positions 97-98L4, horizontal pair, former Curl on Shoulder variety, magenta pen strokes, deep rich color and sharp impression, attractive centering for this tightly spaced issue

FINE-VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE SOUND MULTIPLE OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT TYPE Ia ISSUE WITH THE CURL ON SHOULDER VARIETY.

With 2002 P.F. certificate. Scott Retail as two singles with pen cancels (Image)

2075 ng image1c Blue, Ty. Ic, III (19b, 21). Positions 47-48L4, unused (no gum) horizontal pair, left stamp Ty. Ic, deep rich Plate 4 color on bright paper, proof-like impression, extraordinary centering

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A RARE COMBINATION PAIR OF THE 1857 ONE-CENT PERFORATED TYPE Ic AND III STAMPS.

There are only six possible combinations of positions that will yield a pair of these types, and only three in this configuration. Due to narow spacing on the plate, most multiples have perforations impinging on part of the design. This pair should be considered a condition rarity.

With 1999 P.S.E. and 2002 P.F. certificates. Listed but unpriced in Scott. Scott Retail as two no gum singles. (Image)

2076 c image1c Blue, Ty. IIIa (22). Vertical and horizontal strips of three, Plate 11, beautifully centered, horizontal strip affixed to back with one stamp partly torn away from opening, used with 12c Black, Plate 3 (36b), stamps tied by bold strikes of "Pittsburgh Pa. Aug. 15, 1861" double-circle datestamp on buff cover to Wurttemberg, Germany, red "New York Paid 10 Aug. 24" credit datestamp, red crayon rates, transit and receiving backstamps, Very Fine, rare franking during the twilight days of the 1857-61 Issue -- the stamps were gradually demonetized beginning on August 17, 1861, in Baltimore, ex Sevenoaks, with 2001 P.F. certificate stating "the cover missing 2c additional postage which may have fallen off in transit", but we find no physical evidence supporting this opinion.
