bottom, rich color and proof-like impression, vertical crease, some
slight soilingEXTREMELY FINE APPEARANCE. A SUPERB BOTTOM SHEET-MARGIN EXAMPLE OF THE 5-CENT 1856 ISSUE WITH ORIGINAL GUM. ONE OF ONLY TWO UNUSED SHEET MARGIN COPIES CONTAINED IN OUR RECORDS. Our extensive census records of Scott 12 contains only two unused stamps with the sheet margin. The other, with considerably smaller sheet margin, was last offered in our 1990 Rarities sale. With 2001 A.P.S. certificate. Also included in the lot is a small typed card reading "This 5c stamp has been kept by Martin W. Ewbanks, a private in Co. "H" 21st Reg't, Ind.
