The message on the card reads "Calbraith carried this in his Wright model Ex racing aeroplane from Tucson to Phoenix. Keep it as a souvenir." On November 1, 1911, this card was flown from Tucson, Arizona, arriving at Imperial Junction on Nov. 3 after stops at Maricopa (Nov. 1), Phoenix and Stoval Ariz. (Nov. 2). At Imperial Junction it received a "Nov. 4, 1911 A.M." postmark. Our census of the Vin Fiz, published in the 1999 Rarities of the World catalogue and updated on our website at http://www.siegelauctions.com/enc/census/cl2/cl2.htm, records twelve examples of the Vin Fiz stamp. Of these, four are off card, one is on a cover, and seven are on postcards. One of the postcards, addressed to Calbraith's mother, was sent by the sender of this post card from Tucson.
