Although the St. Mary is listed in Dietz as a Confederate mail boat, this corner card is not listed.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN EXTREMELY RARE USE OF THE 10-CENT FRAMELINE ON AN ILLUSTRATED PACKET BOAT ADVERTISING COVER.

The James Battle was built in 1860 and ranked among the fastest steamboats of its time. It was captured by Union forces as a blockade-runner in November 1863.
