wax seals, ms. "CSA" along edge, opened and torn, based on the size and
wording of the label, we believe this label was applied by De La Rue to
packages of stamps shipped to the Confederate States -- accompanied by a
sheet of "CSA' watermarked paper -- ex Walcott |

Roulette (11 var). Beautiful early shade and impression on bright
paper, bold "Oxford N.C. Jul. 27" circular datestamp, roulettes at sides,
wide imperforate margins at top and bottom, Very Fine, exceedingly scarce,
the existence of other similarly-rouletted stamps indicates that some of
the Oxford stamps were cut into horizontal strips with perforations between
the stamps (a Confederate "Coil"!), ex Ferrary
