THIS IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE OF THE PRINTED-ON-BOTH-SIDES VARIETY IN BROWN ON WHITE PAPER THAT WE RECORD. Based on our records of Confederate provisional rarities and experience with most of the known examples, we were skeptical about the catalogue listing for 62X3a, the Brown on White printed on both sides. Every other example of this variety is the Red Brown on Bluish (Second Printing). However, with the emergence of the Hall copy (ex 1939 Brown sale), we are able to confirm that at least this stamp is 62X3a Brown on White (First Printing).
