Block of 30 from upper right side of left pane with dot in "S' variety in fifth vertical row, large margins to just in at top, typical faults associated with this fragile India paper, including reinforced crease/tear thru second row and other small tears

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. AN INCREDIBLY RARE BLOCK OF THE 5-CENT 1847 TRIAL COLOR PROOF WITH SPECIMEN OVERPRINT.

Ex Burroughs and Hackett. The Scott Catalogue footnote to the 5c and 10c 1847 Trial Color proofs indicates that examples with "Specimen" overprint sell for "slightly less" than examples without the overprint.
