EXTREMELY FINE. ONE OF ONLY A FEW KNOWN COVERS CARRIED TO THE MOON AND BACK AND SIGNED BY THE ENTIRE CREW OF APOLLO 11. AN OUTSTANDING PIECE OF SPACE EXPLORATION HISTORY.

The U.S. Post Office authorized the astronauts to carry one "moon letter" on Apollo 11. After clearing quarantine, it was toured extensively. A few other pieces of mail, not authorized by the Post Office, were also carried aboard Apollo 11. These, too, underwent quarantine procedures. 150 souvenir cards were also prepared but were not flown.

Very few covers actually flown to the moon and signed are known. One sold most recently realized $46,000 in a September 1999 Christie's auction.

With 2000 Hopferwieser certificate. (Image)
