$5.00 Columbian (245). Mint
N.H. bottom imprint and plate no. strip of four, post-office fresh,
extremely well-centered, deep shade and proof-like impression on bright
paperEXTREMELY FINE GEM IMPRINT AND PLATE NUMBER STRIP. IN OUR OPINION, THIS IS THE FINEST PLATE STRIP OF THE $5.00 COLUMBIAN IN EXISTENCE. AS FRESH AND CHOICE AS THE DAY IT WAS ISSUED. The $5.00 plate number block of eight is believed to be unique, therefore, a strip of four is the only practical means to show the complete imprint and plate number. Ex Argentum. With 1999 P.F. certificate (Image) |

selvageEXTREMELY FINE. A PERFECTLY CENTERED PLATE BLOCK OF THE $5.00 COLUMBIAN. THIS IS THE BEST-CENTERED OF THE FOUR RECORDED $5.00 COLUMBIAN PLATE BLOCKS. Our records contain three plate blocks of six and one plate block of eight (which has only traces of original gum). Only one of the other three approaches the centering of this plate block.
