Positions 18-20R1E, horizontal strip of three, large margins to slightly in at top, bright Plate 1E shade, tied by neat strikes of small "Paid" grids, red "Boston 3 Cts. 23 Oct." circular datestamp also ties strip on folded cover to Philadelphia, vertical file fold thru right stamp, otherwise Extremely Fine, an attractive usage, with copy of 1959 P.F. certificate (Image) E. 500-750 750.00

Position 8R1L, recut twice at bottom, huge margins to just in at right incl. sheet margin at top, stamp tied by St. Louis boxed "1ct" handstamp, cover also bears "Advertised May 16" circular datestamp, tiny brown spot on stamp, Extremely Fine, rare markings, especially used on a position which produced Type Ib in the early state of the plate (Image) E. 500-750 350.00

Position 65R1L, recut once at top and once at bottom, large margins incl. part of adjoining stamps at bottom and at left, tied by St. Louis boxed "1ct" handstamp on National Telegraph embossed corner card cover to St. Louis street address and forwarded, 1857 docketing indicates message from John C. Crittenden in Frankfort Ky., some faint waterstains along edges, otherwise Extremely Fine, rare usage E. 200-300 400.00

Full even margins, deep rich color, tied by light face-free "New-York Jun. 23" circular datestamp on remarkably fresh cover with red Barnum's American Museum embossed advertisement at left, addressed to famous American artist Asher B. IV, recut at bottom, margins to cut in at bottom, 1c sheet margin at top and Position 5R1L (this position produced Type Ib on Plate 1E and still shows complete design at top and major double transfer), slightly in at bottom, stamps tied by light strikes of "Wabash Ill. Apr. 14" (1857) datestamps on back on 3c Red Nesbitt entire to Germany, rare red "N. York 8 U.S. Pkt. Paid Apr. 18" credit datestamp, blue Bremen transit and German receiving backstamps, this cover comes from a new correspondence and shows some wrinkles and wear, still a Fine and remarkable usage E. 750-1,000 550.00
