Langton's Pioneer Express, Virginia City. Large blue oval handstamp clearly struck on buff cover to Downieville, black printed frank, with May 29, 1860 letter, Extremely Fine, no indication of rate paid -- an indentation from the oval handstamp rim is visible on the back of the envelope, yet the thick letter shows no impression, which leads us to conclude that the envelope was prepared with the handstamp in advance of use | E. 200-300 |
