wrinkles and slight wear, Very Fine, ex Ferrary, with 1956 P.F. certificate

fourth side ample, tied by "Charleston S.C. Oct. 27, 1861" double-circle
datestamp on cover to an officer in 1st Regt. S.C. Vol. at Camp Huger,
Suffolk Va., slight wear and minor cover repair at bottom left corner,
still Very Fine, rare double-rate franking, of which seven or eight are
known, ex Antrim (Image)

circular datestamp on cover from member of 9th Regt. S.C. Vol. to Kingston
S.C., provisional postage unrecognized at Tudor Hall post office, cover
handstamped "Due 10", Very Fine, one of two recorded examples of attempted
use of the Charleston provisional from a soldier stationed near Tudor Hall
(other dated Nov. 19, same correspondence), ex Seybold and Caspary (Image)

Blue entire (16XU5). Bold "Charleston S.C. Sep. 19, 1861" circular
datestamp on entire to Abbeville C.H. S.C., some lightened toning and small
mended edge tears at top, still Very Fine, the Blue entire is extremely
rare and relatively undervalued in Scott -- our Levi records contain only
eight genuine examples (Image)
