(12), large even margins, tied by "Charleston S.C." circular datestamps of July 20 and August 15, respectivelyA FLAWLESS AND REMARKABLE PAIR OF COVERS, VIVIDLY DEMONSTRATING THE INGENUITY OF SOUTHERN CITIZENS TO FIND PAPER IN THE FACE OF WAR-TIME ADVERSITY While a wide range of printed matter - wallpaper, forms, maps, and ammunition wrappers - have been found as home-made Confederate stationery, we know of no other instance in which human anatomical drawings or engravings were used. In this case, the sender probably appreciated the novelty of the effort, because the paper was folded with the blank side as the interior, rather than the exterior, of the envelope.
