U.S. City Despatch Post, N.Y., 3c Black on Yellow Straw Surface Colored Paper (6LB4 "A"). Three large margins, cut into bottom, bold red "U.S." in frame cancelA NEW DISCOVERY OF THE U.S. CITY DESPATCH POST CARRIER STAMP ON YELLOW STRAW PAPER This stamp was discovered by our firm among the pages of a United States collection. It is a genuinely used carrier stamp on unglazed paper with yellowish surface coloring. The color differs from the Rosy Buff stamp (Scott 6LB2), which most experts agree is an unissued trial printing, and, of course, it is completely unlike the green and blue papers. The discovery of this new colored paper in used condition should lead to its inclusion in the next Scott Catalogue as Scott 6LB4A. The only recorded example (Image Magnifier) |
