letter from Mr. F. W. Geissenhainer, the grandson of the addressee, dated February 20, 1922, states that the "City Despatch envelope, together with a number of others, was found by me about six years..." This letter refers to the cover in the
following lot, and a copy is included herewith for reference. Ashbrook, in a 1948 letter to Clarence Wilson regarding this cover, traced it to F. W. Hunter (who signed the inside of the lettersheet behind the stamp). John Klemann, of Nassau Stamp
Co., sold the cover to Harold Brooks. Ashbrook negotiated the sale from Brooks to Wilson. Very Fine. This Unique Cover is The First Day of Usage of Adhesive Postage Stamps Under Authority of The United States Post Office. Ex Hunter, Brooks, Wilson.
