St. Louis, Mo., 20c Black on Greenish (11X3). Type I, position 1, Mostly Large Margins, Neatly Canceled by Red "Paid", traces of lightened pen cancel, very slight thinning at lower right During the Second Printing of provisionals, after the
first alteration of the plate was made to include two 20c values, the normal paper used was Grayish Lilac. However, a small number of sheets of the Greenish paper used for the First Printing must have been used, as evidenced by the existence of six
examples of the 20c stamp on Greenish paper and the 10c pair on Greenish with offset of the 20c on back. These are among the rarest of all United States provisionals. Very Fine Appearing Example of This Extremely Rare Stamp. There Are Six Recorded
Examples of The 20c on Greenish, of Which Only Three Are Off Cover. This is The Only Example with Handstamped Cancellation. Ex Weill. With 1989 P.F. Certificate. Search for comparables |
