Franklin D. Roosevelt, typed letter with autograph signature as President, on White House stationery, dated December 19, 1933. Roosevelt accepts Alfred F. Lichtenstein's invitation to become a patron
of the International Philatelic Exhibition in 1936, adding a few encouraging words about stamp collecting: I am, of course, happy to know that things are going well for stamps and stamp-collecting in every part of the world. From all that I hear, the
interest seems to be increasing. This letter is part of a small collection of Roosevelt documents related to his stamp collecting activities. The major portion of this group, including letters, signed bid sheets submitted to Max Ohlman, and ephemera,
will be offered in our November auction of autographs and historical documents. A fascinating addition to a stamp or postal history collection (Image Magnifier)Search for comparables |
