Red (26) tied by Rimless Red Grid cancels. This cover was not called for & was accidently placed in the dead letter box when nearly a year later it was backstamped "San Francisco Advertised Jun 11 1861" with ms. notation below "Found in dead letter
Box -A. F. Gomez". San Francisco apparently did not recognize the demonetized 10c '47 & charged either the addressee or his agent 10 cents for postage. The 1860 use of the '47 is verified by the Aug 21 date, when trimonthly sailings (June 1st, 11th &
